Pardubice became a town sometime around 1340. Back then it was owned by the Lords of Pardubice, the most prominent figure of the line being Arnošt of Pardubice, the first Archbishop of Prague, advisor and friend to Emperor Charles IV, a distinguished European personality of that time. Buildings on the square and adjacent streets bear the oldest traces of early gothic architecture. The neo-renaissance city hall of Pardubice is the main focal point.

"Tolles Hotel mit sehr freundlichem Personal in deutscher und englischer Sprache. Was mich bei meinem 2. Aufenthalt sehr geärgert hat, das die Klimaanlage tagsüber, wo kein Gast im Hotel ist zur Verfügung stand und Abends, wenn die Hotelgäste kommen ausgeschaltet wurde. Selbst nach meiner Anfrage, wurde dies ignoriert. Ich habe mich für dieses Hotel entschieden, weil es eine Klimaanlage auf der Homepage anbietet. "Very clean, spacious family room. We had a small kitchen which proved very useful as there aren't many places open for an evening meal (seem to be open for main meals at lunchtime) but it's very close a a really good supermarket. Helpful staff. Pretty town to explore, good brewery/restaurant close by. Easy walking distance to the train station which gets you to Kutna Hora and Prague. "
