"Fantastic hotel. Great location, food and drink were top quality - poached eggs cooked to order were a highlight. Staff all very pleasant and helpful - booked for a birthday and we were given a lovely room and some fizz - many thanks, recommended and will return."

"It's a lovely building close to the M11 in lovely grounds with parking. What I didn't like was check in at 4pm, it's out of step with most other places which are 3pm.
Most hotels can get the rooms ready 11-3pm. The room was very small and the style was very dated, the rooms away from the main building are not well signed and a room for 2 people had no hand towels, 2 bath towels and the only toiletries was a minuscule bar of soap, no shower gel or shampoo. All hotels supply more than that and...

"Such a lovely hotel with lots of history, 8 minute walk to the town. Beautiful decor and extremely friendly and helpful staff from the reception staff to the bar staff. They upgraded our room for free due to a celebration booking and could not have been more lovely. Thank you!"

"The hotel was situated in town centre. Walkable to the river, local attractions and restaurants.
We had a lovely stay and they have a small spa located next door which we used one morning.
We did not eat breakfast there so unable to comment on food, the rooftop bar was lovely for drinks.
Our door was difficult to open but staff were helpful and efficient."
