Highly recommend a stay in this grand, old house! It had everything we were looking for! South Boston is worth visiting for its history, charm and people. We will be returning to visit again!

The house was beautiful, John was very friendly and helpful - he worked with us to make a change in our schedule at the last minute, much appreciated. Our room was very comfortable. We plan to return.

Charles Bass is always a great place to stay. It's so tranquil and inviting. The place was clean and the entire home is beautiful.

The house was idyllic, and our host was so amiable. Also, we really enjoyed the on-site hot tub and relaxing private deck. We would definitely stay here again!

We had a wonderful experience at this property. A lovely older home with loads of charm. Located in the town’s historic district, it was easy to walk to a local restaurant for dinner. The owner provided clear and easy to understand instructions. It had everything we needed and would happily stay here again.

Very nice accomodations, we were in the suite. Host was very pleasant and helpful and a good cook. French toast breakfast was top notch.

We loved how much space we had in our suite and how spotless everything was at the property. We particularly appreciated the complementary refreshments and the beautiful breakfast table setting. I absolutely recommend staying here if you are visiting South Boston! What a lovely gem.

Our room was lovely and very clean. The house is spacious and beautifully decorated and furnished. Our host was friendly, we very much enjoyed chatting with him about the area. The hot tub was great, and we loved all the lovely plants on the deck. We appreciated the dining suggestions we found in our room and the abundance of ideas for other things to see in the area. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

A walk back in history that gives you the gentile accommodations and comfort not available in new skyscraper hotels. John, the owner, treated me like family.

John was the consummate host in this lovely BNB. We had more than plenty of room to move around. The location was just close enough to get to a handful of restaurants and shops with a quick drive but the neighborhood was also walkable and quiet at night. John gave us plenty of good ideas for a day trip and nearby sights.

A Most Pleasant Stay at the Charles Bass House

We were pleasantly surprised at how beautiful the Charles Bass House was. John, the host, was extremely gracious and handled our minimal food allergies with ease. We had what was probably the best breakfast of our vacation. We recommend staying here and if we find ourselves even remotely in the South Boston area again, we would not hesitate to return. Highly recommended!

John, the owner, is a most excellent host. He was extremely nice, friendly, helpful and a good cook! The place was stocked with everything you could possibly want, food, beverages, towels, flatware, dishes, glasses, etc. The large, private jacuzzi was great! The home is the quintessential elegant, southern mansion built around 1900.

After our 2hr drive, it was a welcomed respite! Our stay was mid-week, so it was lovely to have a quiet stay in the first floor two room suite. We enjoyed excellent wine and jazz playing softly in the background. John made thee BEST pancakes I've EVER had. Our family felt welcome and at home. Would absolutely recommend & return again!

The best B&B I have ever stayed at. Great meal and John is a fantastic host. great house with lots of room and added benefits. Easy to use and very accommodating.

This is a warm, comfy very personal BNB. John, the owner, lives onsite. He provides for everything including early check in or late out check out if it is at all possible. The bed is comfortable and the downstairs accommodation is like having your own house. The breakfast was delicious and perfectly timed. All in all, I highly recommend this beautiful place.

The Charles Bass House B&B is a charming property! John, the owner, serves up a lovely breakfast and provides the perfect dose of Southern hospitality. If you are considering booking a stay here, stop overthinking it and book it right now - you won't be sorry. The house is full of windows and natural sunlight, and it is well appointed with top quality linens and appealing decor. The downstairs Guest Suite is huge, the bed is super comfortable, and the whole house is very clean. My husband and I had a delightful experience at the Charles Bass House B&B and we can't wait to stay here again the next time our travels take us through South Boston. Do yourself a favor and book a stay here (or surprise a loved one by treating them to a night or two here - it is such a treat!). I really cannot say enough nice things about this B&B gem!
