The mausoleum of Tipu Sultan. To some he was a cruel tyrant. To others, a hero of Indian nationalism. To many, someone they never heard of. Either way, he sure was buried in style.

After his death at the Battle of Srinangapatna in 1799, Tipu was buried in this stately tomb, called The Gumbaz, alongside members of his family.

Entrance is free, but you may be asked for 5 rupees to have your shoes checked when you go inside. The Gumbaz is a short rickshaw ride from the bus and train stations in Srirangapatna.
