This property was pretty nice. Great location - I could walk to my relative's home. The only downside was the pillows were really flat.

This property should not even be listed on Expedia. The staff here is horrible. And so is the ownership. Once you book your nonrefundable stay, they will email you to send them them $500 with Zelle, using “friends and family” as the category. This is not listed anywhere in the process of booking, and it is also against the terms and conditions for Zelle. Find somewhere else to stay.

I sent in the deposit 24 hours ahead of time like instructed but an hour after check in instead of information on how to access the building they sent me a message telling me to send in a deposit again. I had to call and get them to give me the information. The house was fine until I realized the basement ceiling had a hole which let water in when it rained. The shower had poor water pressure from a badly installed shower head. Otherwise the place was fine. Bed was decently comfortable. I sent them my concerns and they didn't respond until a couple days later with a generic 'I hope you enjoyed your stay, leave us a 5 star review'. I only got my deposit back after I messaged them a week after asking about it. I should've stayed at a hotel.

The shower in the basement has very low pressure and made it difficult to take a shower. The comforter in room #1 looked a little dirty and probably needs to be replaced or thoroughly cleaned. I was offered late checkout for $30 via an email the night before and I sent an email 2 hours before checkout requesting this. The cleaning crew showed up a little after checkout and they walked in while I was relaxing in bed. I was under the impression I was approved for late checkout since I did not receive any communication after my email. Long story short I and my girlfriend had to scramble and gather our things on short notice. I have stayed at this location before and I love it and had a great experience previous to this one. I am considering if I will stay again or choose another location. I would like the owners or property manager to consider my feedback and maybe do something to make me feel better to consider staying here again. I visit the city often and if they want to keep my business a friendly follow up gesture will go a long way to making decision easier for the future.

My stay at McCormick Place Guest House was great and offered good value compared to hotels. I would recommend you contact the guest house well in advance to organize check-in - I sorted that out about a week before my stay and got very clear, easy to follow instructions. They were also able to help me get back into the house after I checked out but realized I had left something important back at the house. After seeing some reviews I was a little concerned about the neighborhood the property is in, but I felt safe the whole time I was there. The street is very well lit at night which helps - especially when checking in after dark. The only issue I had with the area was that there wasn't a lot of dining options nearby other than fast food. One day I wanted pasta and it was a 1.3 mile walk to get to an Italian place. The house itself is nice, especially the communal areas. I didn't cook at all, but the kitchen seemed decently equipped to cook a meal. My room was on the lower floor. There was a shared fridge on this floor which was useful for drinks and things - saved me going up and down the stairs to the kitchen. Room was clean and simple - bed, chair, bedside tables, small wardrobe. Bathroom is shared, but on the lower floor I think it was only shared between 3 rooms so I never had any issue with using the bathroom. I would happily stay again if I am ever back in Chicago and want to save some money as staying at a hotel in the loop or old town is very expensive.

Common areas are spacious and well kept. Room was sufficient with a bed and chair and clean. I was provided two bath towels and hand towels. Although unusual, sharing a common bathroom wasn’t an issue for me and the bathroom was kept clean.

Our room was lovely, the bed was comfy. Lots of lighting and temperature options so we slept like a baby. The bathroom is shared with other guests, so as long as you have courteous fellows, it was a spacious, clean bathroom. We didn't spend much time in the large living area, but it was easy to check in and check out and lock ourroom door as each room has its own key. Thank you!

The Villa Dubois is very clean. Instructions were provided throughout the home and everything was self explanatory. The house is very spacious and provides privacy and amenities throughout the space. I enjoyed good nights rest and was only 5 minutes away from my business/church function. I highly recommend Villa Dubois. I will be back and look forward to renting again.
