Perfect spot from which to explore the backwaters

A fantastic spot from which to explore the Kerala backwaters. The hotel organised a half-day Sikkara boat tour and for the remainder of our (too short) stay we relaxed by the pool and dined on the beach. Recommended!

Gem that needs polishing

Perfectly situated on the Lake Vembanad banks, with a rimflow swimmingpool & view in which you can get lost for days, & great selection of local dishes The manger & staff are very friendly, but the service has much room for improvement & lacks quality, speed & attentiveness Even though booking the suite for 4 nights we were placed in room 15 for the first 2 nights: the original bedroom of the old homestead with mildew walls, rising damp issues, old bathroom (chipped, stained bath), limescale crusted glass sink. Also the only room without an outside area overlooking the lake. We requested to be moved to Room 1, as per our booking (the best room on the property, with the lake less than 2 meters away) Pool towels are old, tatty & stained 28 guests, but ony 12 loungers ans towels When ordering food & beverages outside mealtimes, expect to wait up to 45 minutes for something basic like soda Spa is right next to the Kitchen, which is always noisy & thus makes it hard to relax during the lovely ayurveda treatments. When bringing this under the manager's attention, his response was that this has been the complaint of numerous guests, but the owners are not planning on rectifying the sutuation Certainly not the quality / service you expect from a 5-star, Relais & Chateau hotel. A gem of a hotel in terms of views and scope for relaxation, but needs some serious polishing

a peaceful beauty spot to relax

Upgraded to a lovely, stylish room with a gorgeous view of the lake. I couldn't have been more comfortable. Staff was kind, friendly but not intrusive. Very comfortable as a female travelling alone.

There is nothing I can fault about this hotel - the service, the staff, the magnificent, spacious room and bathroom, the location, the peace and quiet, the stunning view, the food . . . I loved it and would definitely return.
