As my flight was cancelled just after midnight due to weather, the airline would not provide accommodation. I had to scramble to secure a hotel on my own so booked the red roof inn via expedia. I correctly booked the date I would check in but when I got to the hotel after 1 a.m., was told I could not check in until after 5 a.m. because that was when the property does its audit for the night/day before. Since I had already pre-paid for the room via expedia, I said this was unacceptable. The night desk clerk had to call some number to get auth to check me in which took over 40 minutes to complete!! Meanwhile, a number of other parties were lined up behind me to check in due to cancelled flights and this further delayed all of their check-ins.
Red roof Inn - come on - you can do better than this.
Additionally, there were no coffee makers in the rooms. Soap but no shampoo packets or bottles and the towels were absolutely thread-bare.
