"Clean roll, ocean view was stunning! Delayed in checking in. Check in was 4 but didn’t get our room til 5. Waited in the lobby. Lobby was beautiful and stunning ocean view."

"We stayed here two nights and it was as expected. No frills, yet clean and comfortable. One of the most affordable options in Carmel and walkable to everything. Could use a bit of a remodel but honestly the room was spacious and fairly clean and was great for a short stay. We were able to use the parking lot and we felt like our car was safe the whole time and there was plenty of spaces available. "

"Room was clean, but old and outdated. We had a bag of garbage that sat outside of our door from when we checked in until we left the next day. No ocean view. They do not answer the phone. Had to leave the second night due to an emergency, but they refused to give a refund. "

"I recently stayed at the Stilwell Hotel in Carmel-by-the-Sea, and it was truly one of the best hotel experiences I’ve had in years. The property has clearly been beautifully and thoughtfully renovated —every detail feels intentional, elevated, and perfectly suited to the charm of Carmel. The design strikes a rare balance of being modern, warm, and sophisticated while still feeling authentic to the area. What really stood out, though, was the service. The staff were genuinely welcoming, attentive, and went out of their way to make sure every aspect of the stay was seamless. It’s the kind of hospitality that makes you feel taken care of without ever feeling intrusive. The amenities were fantastic, the rooms were extremely comfortable, and everything—from the finishes to the small touches—felt high quality and well curated. And the location simply couldn’t be better. You’re perfectly situated to walk everywhere in Carmel-by-the-Sea—restaurants, shops, galleries, and the beach are all just steps away. All in all, this was an exceptional stay. The Stilwell has quickly become one of my favorite places to stay in Carmel, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a boutique hotel experience done absolutely right. I’m already looking forward to my next visit."

"The hotel was very cute, very clean and in excellent condition. The pool was inviting and the waiting areas were comfortable. I didn’t realize upon booking this property that it isn’t right downtown Carmel. But that was my fault. "

"This place is so lovely! The staff was great, very helpful and welcoming. It’s centrally located to Carmel by the sea, Monterey and Big Sur. We got a renovated bathroom which was great. The bed was so comfortable. Our room was on the second floor with a balcony which we enjoyed. The little cabins look very nice and well kept. We hope to stay in one next time. Highly recommend this place. "
