"Graham was the perfect host. His attention to detail was exceptional. The property looked brand new inside. Amazing facilities, lounge, DVDs, books, coffee machine etc. Great parking and charging for EVs. Good selection for breakfast and delicious home made bread and jams. I’d recommend the Old Manor House and we will be back."

"I was going to visit the Brecon Mountain Railway and I needed somewhere close by to stay for the night. Luckily, I chose the Butchers Arms. The room was lovely and clean and the bed very comfortable. The food was filling and tasty and I had breakfast looking across to the start of the Brecon Beacons. The beer was wonderful especially the Butty Bach (little friend in Welsh). "

"Absolutely lovely hotel, possibly 1of the best we’ve ever stayed in, from checking in to checking out, nothing was too much trouble. Emma on reception was so friendly, helpful and chatty, really made us feel welcome. The room was spotless. We had food in the restaurant in the evening, then breakfast the following morning. Food was absolutely delicious and again all the staff were so friendly and helpful. Definitely be back ."
"Staff were lovely and attentive. Hotel was in a great spot in the city centre with lots to do and a great view of the castle. Room was lovely and perfect for our stay"
"Parking not included, have to book and pay using Just Park (limited spaces). Only the gym appears to be free, the pool and spa need to be paid for. Queen room was large with a nice deep bath. The room felt a little tired; minor holes in curtains, carpet not in the best condition, bath robes rough on the skin. Only 3 coffee pods in a room for 2 people which was a bit odd. I was staying alone so it was okay for me. Additional instant coffee on a tray in the cupboard. Toilet roll thin and poor quality, maybe because the plumbing doesn't cope with thicker paper? Toilet roll holder wobbly and coming away from the wall. Overall a nice enough room but felt expensive at £125 a night (Saturday) with parking costs on top plus having to pay for swimming pool."
"Lovely stay here for our anniversary weekend. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a quadruple room, which also had a hot tub!
From the moment we arrived, we had a great first impression. The room was absolutely stunning and full of history, which really added to the character of the stay.
We also ate at the Aura restaurant for bottomless brunch, and once again the service was fantastic. My only slight complaint was the burger, which felt a little cheap and seemed to use poor-quality patties. My wife’s fish and chips, on the other hand, were stunning, and the staff did a brilliant job of making sure our drinks were always topped up.
Overall, the stay was magnificent and we would definitely come back. A fantastic place for an anniversary weekend, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time here."
"I’ve been staying at this hotel since 2010, and it’s always been our go‑to place when visiting Cardiff. We’ve loved it for so long that even our now 11 year old looks forward to staying here. The staff are consistently helpful, the location is ideal, and the facilities have always contributed to a really enjoyable stay.
However, this is the first visit where I’ve felt the hotel is overdue for a refurbishment. The rooms and bathrooms are showing their age, and the spa facilities in particular need attention. The changing rooms look very tired, and the rainfall shower experience is barely functioning.
One additional point, although not the hotel’s fault, is the walk from the city centre. The area now has a large number of homeless individuals, and while I understand the complexity of the issue, it did make the walk back feel uncomfortable when I was alone with my son in the late evening."
"Room is very small. Hotel is right beside the train tracks so you can hear the rhythm of be trains crossing the final bridge into station.
Location is great right beside station and at end of St Mary street."
