"The staff were amazing, everyone I met were friendly helpful and pleasant. Whilst the bedroom was clean and the bed comfy I was a bit disappointed that the carpet had seen better days and there was a fair amount of dust on the shelf of the wardrobe which I removed before using. In fact, there was a lot of dust all over the wooden surfaces that I went past. I took advantage of the Drop Inn and the Bakehouse, both served delicious food."

"Asked for a room away from the lifts and noise. Was given a room right next to the lifts. Awake all night. Bright lights on the corridor, had to block the light with a towel under the door. Fire sensor gave off a bright flash intermittently all night - triggered a migraine. Lots of noise from other guests through the night and early morning. Check in - didn't tell me anything about the breakfast, WiFi, pool opening etc. Handed me the card and told me the room number. Very disappointed!"

"Stayed for 2 nights, we were out from 6am to 8pm for the day on our return room hadn’t been cleaned. Rang reception and they brought clean towels. Really disappointed. Bed sheets were stained and not the standard I would expect for a Malmaison. Also rooms are tired and a bit grubby, bathroom needs refurbished, leaking sink tap, water just ran onto floor. However, location is fab but there are better hotels nearby."

"This was our second time staying at the Clayton Hotel, we enjoyed it but felt the rooms require much better upkeep and deep cleaning. That being said the front of house staff are excellent. We really value how Mamadu the front of house supervisor went above and beyond for us in both our stays. Thank you Mamadu once again, and we hope to be back soon!"

"The room was extremely small, and the bathroom was not clean at all. The bed and sheets were dirty, and the floor was clearly not cleaned properly. There were no basic amenities in the room not even simple hotel slippers, tissues, or a small bottle of water. I was very disappointed with my stay and would not recommend this hotel to anyone, even for one night."
