The gentleman who checked us in was extremely nice. Our beds were clean and the room itself was overall clean. The bathroom however, specifically the shower was disgusting. The shower curtain was like paper and completely brown on the bottom. The shower floor was dirty, we wore our sandals we brought for the geothermal baths to shower. And the bathroom floor mat is an actual bath mat, not a towel that most hotels use that gets washed after a hotel guests stay. So it did not look like it had ever been washed or cleaned. Don’t expect to eat breakfast. It’s self serve and consisted of a few boxes of already opened cereal boxes and bread bags, which who knows how long the cereal has been sitting there and who’s hands have been in it. Also, there’s a small mini fridge with some cold cuts, cheese and cucumbers, milk and juice and some apples and oranges. But again the cold cut meat was in an open package, not wrapped and who knows how long things have been open for and who’s hands have touched what. My husband made a coffee to go, and we didn’t bother eating breakfast.
Located in a very rural, beautiful, quiet area by the main road, the hotel served the purpose, namely: of getting a good night´s sleep. Room and breakfast simple. Did not use the facilities in the main building due to late arrival. The man in the reception showed the room and the self service breakfast upon arrival. Check-out by leaving key in the door. Fine for 1 night to or from the Westfjords.
While the staff is freindly and helpful enough and the hamburgers in the restaurant is tasty, it still can't help the rating of this place. There are a couple of areas where they need to improve a lot.
1. Out of 3 available rooms at our arrival, only one had a functional lock on the door. The others either could be opened while supposedly being locked or couldn't be locked at all.
2. The breakfast. It is served in the common room between the 4 rooms in the area. There is a fridge that the staff stock up with food, unfortunately, they never check the stuff already in there. Ham, milk nad yoghurt could be found with an expired date, and not by just one day. Some cans of jam could be found and an all bread provided was a loaf of toaster bread. The toaster was not working properly and the water boiler had things growing inside it. Didn't dare to try the coffee machine after that discovery. Some cereals could also be found, left open in a corner. It was very underwhelming and a bit disgusting all of it. Plastic forks, spoons, and knives also don't ring correctly in today's ecofriendly society.
3. Hot water took forever to find its way to the shower. Several minutes.
With some decent locks on the doors and maybe a set breakfast buffet in the main restaurant, this place would be a totally different story. But as it is now - never again!

The views were fantastic to the front of the property, the accommodation was basic, one nighter OK, noise could be an issue in the building, having a common room in the middle with four rooms off. The breakfast was a help yourself,in the fridge & cupboard, so you could eat anytime that suited yourself. I would not call it a Hotel but a hostel type of stay.
Hotel owner was not around when we arrive around 7 plus evening time.we called him with the number provided at the hotel door and he picked up and gave clear instruction.
However we did not get to see the hotel owner at all during the whole night.there was no bread for breakfast and milk was spoilt. We left the hotel room without seeing the hotel owner at all. I do not know whether it is necessary but amenities are lacking.
This place exceeded my expectations for the price we paid. The room and bathroom were clean, and we had a very nice view of the mountains. The walls are thin, so you hear the coffee machine running in the morning. (There is a coffee machine and kettle in the common area.) This is a great location to stop overnight before you go into the West Fjords. The drive here and back into Budardalur was also very scenic.

This place was fabulous. The employees were so helpful and the food in their restaurant was absolutely delicious. The scenery was beautiful as well (but that's to be expected anywhere in Iceland). Definitely a great place to stop for the night.

Nice hotel but can be better
nice and spacious room, but poor wifi and limited kitchen facility.
Rigtig fin morgenmad for alle.
We had a great stay a Ljosaland. Perfect overnight stop when traveling to or from the Western Fjords. The restaurant was nice and there is even a pool table to enjoy, listen to music, and have a drink. Upon check in, we were offered some local tourist information including directions to a nearby hot spring. Room was adequate for our needs. The TV didn't work but we really weren't there for that so it wasn't a big deal.
