"Good value, staff friendly, very clean, great location."

"Overall lovely stay staff very friendly efficient with prompt service. As a 4 star hotel a few things could be improved like a fridge in the room to keep the bottled water they provided cold, air conditioning but probably would be too expensive to fit due to the age of the building and paintwork here and there needed touching up. There was a problem checking in to the hotel as they asked us to pay again even though we had already paid. They said they would sort it on checkout but this could have worried some guests although we knew we were right so it didn’t bother us. Finally when we went to dinner and wanted to order a glass of wine they did not have any of the first choice of wine or the second choice and they didn’t have that many to choose from if you wanted to buy wine by the glass. After saying that we would definitely visit again and these are just minor pointers as constructive criticism to offer feedback. Thank you for a lovely stay and we will be back on the summer "

"What a bargain. Friendly efficient staff. Place is clean and well kept. It’s not a posh hotel but does what it does really well. On-site 24 hour cafe too for those arriving late. I’d definitely book again."

"Had a wonderful one night stay for a special occasion. Our primary reason for visiting was the spa and it did not disappoint. We used it the afternoon of arrival and the following morning before breakfast. It was lovely in the cold and we hope to experience it in warmer weather too. We ate dinner in the hotel and it was very pleasant. Breakfast selection and quality was excellent. Only some minor feedback: I had a cocktail in the State Room and it was fantastic, and when ordering the same drink in Bar 1745, it was very average. We were also charged for the wrong whisky (at a higher price) but this was changed at checkout without hassle. I’d really like it if the pizzas in Charlie’s were available year round!"
