My stay at Homewood Suites was fantastic. What wasn’t fantastic was Expedia. So I reserved my room back in September through Expedia and noticed the first reservation seem to not have gone through because I received no email or text notification stating I’m booked, nor did I see the reservation in my Expedia account. So I reserved again and it went through and I received the necessary notification.
Now, I check in on November 1st and lo and behold, I am told at the front desk that I have two reservations on file, thus needing to pay $608 for both rooms. I was devastated. Of course when I call Expedia, the automated tell me that it’s too late to cancel on their end and the property will need to do it. After much anticipation and back and forth, the property manager at Homewood Suites was lovely and waived the 2nd reservation that was made on error due to a glitch in Expedia’s website. I am blaming Expedia explicitly for this because the property manager said 2 others had a similar situation off Expedia that same week.
From now on I will book through the property website as I no longer trust Expedia with my vacation planning.
