I loved it. Comfortable room and bed. Excellent food. Friendly and helpful staff. Glorious spa and 2 free activities. Indoor and outdoor pools. Overlooking the beach. Short walk to town centre. Some say it needs an external paint job and it does. But that did not spoil my visit.

Lovely stay at the Sofitel, Biarritz

Everything about our stay has been perfect! The staff are really friendly and professional, and the room is great. The bed is so comfortable too. The restaurant accommodated us for a late supper last night and it was a magical experience with a gorgeous sunset view.

We had booked two rooms and unfortunately, the staff somehow only acknowledged one of the reservations, only after sharing the confirmation from Expedia and quite a bit of back-and-forth. Did they finally agree that two rooms were booked unfortunately even though it was in the evening, they made us wait quite sometime for the availability of the second room. However, let me be clear that the location is excellent.

Sofitel Biarritz - July 2025

Overall the hotel was quite nice. Our room was clean and comfortable, all amenities you need for a pleasant stay. The staff were friendly and helpful when checking-in. The outdoor pool was also clean. Generally, the hotel was showing signs of needing some refreshing (e.g. rust and peeling paint). Unfortunately we had a very disappointing experience at the spa and would definitely not recommend. My partner is not the type to complain but he said his massage was terrible. The spa therapist had poor technique (my partner described it as being similar to someone slapping on suncream) and they ran out of massage oil causing a lot of friction and discomfort. Very disappointing and unacceptable given the treatment cost of €135. We had pre-paid for the treatment and tried to give feedback when checking-out of the hotel, however the receptionist said it was her first day and did not know how to handle the complaint. The general spa facilities were average, I expected much better based off the hotel’s website. At nearly £300 per night, I generally think the hotel is overpriced.

Hotel is in a great location but it’s looking tired ! Rooms are dull and dark. Spa looks old and the Gym has black Mold in the ceiling !! Not what you expect from a 5Star @Sofitel

The area is absolutely beautiful the location the hotel is excellent however I think needs some keep up. The whole structure is getting old and needs some maintenance. The parking it cost €30 a day.
