"This was one of the most unique and beautiful places I have ever stayed. The owner contacted me in advance to ask when we would arrive, and she was helpful in finding a place to park and other relevant information. As others have noted, the hotel is located in a rural village. It is about a half-hour pleasant drive to beaches. We rented the family room, which was plenty big for 5 people. "Tucked beneath the ancient ruins of Pergamon, the Alaia Hotel sits quietly in the old Ottoman quarter of Bergama. With its charming and eclectic furnishings, it proved to be a wonderful choice. Navigating the winding cobbled streets was tricky—even Google Maps struggled—but the owner was communicative and guided us there with ease. In the morning, we enjoyed a delicious homemade Turkish breakfast, and best of all, everything we wanted to see was within walking distance."

"The neighborhood is special. Our original hotel, Las Pergaman was unexpectedly full, so we stayed with charming neighbors, and became unexpected guests at the Bergamin Film Festival fund raiser. Our room had a spectacular view of the Basilica ruins. A potential lemonade was turned into Lemoncelo."
