Be amazed by the medieval charm of this small town on the Costa Brava, blessed with extraordinary natural surroundings and spectacular dunes are sure to delight lovers of the sun and the beach.

Explore an authentic medieval fortress while enjoying a fantastic holiday in Begur. Start your visit in the historic old town, where you’re sure to be drawn to the Begur castle, or rather its ruins, as the castle has suffered several assaults since it was built in the 11th century, especially during the Napoleonic wars. Take a stroll along Begur's streets and discover the towers erected to protect the people from pirate attacks, such as Can Marquès tower or Can Pella i Forgas, whose windows boast some impressive arabesque motifs. You’ll also find yourself walking along historical streets and alleyways, such as Carrer del Castell, and come across houses in the unique Indiano (Spanish-American colonial) design, such as Can Petu or Can Pi, both dating back to the 19th century.

Of course, the main reason for booking a package holiday in Begur is its incredible coastline, as the town boasts some first-class beaches and coves. Head over to El Racó beach, the largest beach, where you can enjoy magnificent views of the Medes Islands, or Fonda beach, which you’ll find in a secluded hideaway that has kept the beach pristine and unspoilt. The coves are also sure to amaze you. In fact, it’s said that the coves of Fornells are what inspired the name of the Costa Brava coastline, which means the Wild Coast in Catalan and Spanish.

The natural surroundings of Begur make this town the perfect destination if you want to enjoy some active tourism. Here, you’ll be able to go on boat trips, sailing and even scuba diving, as you’ll find several diving centres that will help you discover a truly magical seabed. Of course, after all that exertion you’ll want to replenish your energy with the excellent cuisine that will delight even the most demanding diners. You should definitely try their rockfish, the town’s most characteristic dish.

Finding cheap trips to Begur couldn’t be easier, so there’s no reason not to visit the town. The city also enjoys excellent transport links with the rest of the Spanish mainland. What more could you ask for?
