"3.5 star
Beautiful property. The grounds were well maintained. Room was nice. We had some minor maintenance issues like a leaky toilet but only a minor inconvenience. Food was pretty decent we had lunch while we waited to check into our room. The beach club is about 10 minutes away was nice with pretty good food and a great beach.
Cons:
No beach near property really. Minor con because the beach club was really fun. The biggest problem is the fact that they nickel and dime you. An example is that the property has a driver and vehicle. We went to dinner 10 mins away and they charge you 20 dollars plus tip each way for a mile each way. That should be complimentary for guests less the tip. But ok, if you’re going to charge at least be in line with what a cab would be which is 1/2 that. And the spa….i mean this was a little eye opening. 200 for a 1/hr basic massage. That’s double what we paid in Panama City at a luxury hotel. And look, I’m a capitalist charge what you want but at least disclose the prices. No pricing on the menu and nothing stated up front for a very expensive service for what it was. It’s cheaper at the Four Seasons in most markets.
Overall, place is nice. I think they need to clean some things up because we left feeling taken advantage of. But I also want to be supportive of what the area is trying to become as it has a lot of potential. We won’t stay there again but I wouldn’t deter someone from staying there."
"The place is awesome!, the staff is very helpful and kind. A great place to stay and highly recommended. The hotel seems old, but it gives a nostalgic feeling. A great place if you want to have some rest and connect with the nature."
"There was nothing we didn't like about the Bungalows! They were very clean, comfortable and the view from the deck was gorgeous. Our hosts, Alfred and Sonia, were so helpful and generous. They shared tips about the islands, and booked the water taxis, so we were never stranded or overcharged. Sonia is the "Queen of Breakfast". Jerry, the chef, was not only an excellent cook, but he was also very atuned to our tastes and requests. The rooms are fully stocked, and if we needed anything, it was supplied (we borrowed fins and umbrellas). If you get a chance to go here, do it!"
"My husband and I recently stayed at Aqui Hoy for 4 nights and while it was a bit isolated, it was a relaxing and peaceful location. We had the place to ourselves, so that was lovely, but I do think that having neighbours in the adjoining cabin would have impacted on our privacy, had there been someone in the room beside us. Katy and Marcel were welcoming and friendly. It was an added bonus to have a restaurant on site. The food was wholesome and reasonably priced. As were the local beer options. We made use of the kayaks on hand, and enjoyed the sun in the lounge chairs. Marcel took us out to Hospital Point to do some snorkeling one day, and that was a good outing. A few improvements that would make for a better stay would be to have a sliding screen door so that a breeze can come through in the evening and at night, since there is no AC, and the no-see ‘ems come out at dusk and in the morning. It would have nice to have had more options for breakfast. And we were a bit surprised that we had to settle our tab in cash, but could charge the amount for our nightly stay. Aqui Hoy is a solid 3 star accommodation, better than ok as the rating seems to denote in Expedia."
"The property is breathtaking! Absolutely beautiful.
Staff was kind. The lodge was stayed in was comfortable and spacious. The view from the balcony was stunning. Wish there was one more restaurant in the property. There are times when the only restaurant does not offer food service so plan your tours etc accordingly. The restaurant functions on island time so pack your patience. The listing on Expedia says private pool for the lodge but it is actually shared between 10 lodges. Overall a great stay ! "
"Beautiful suite and friendly staff.
The walk to town was difficult and not well maintained- I would not want to do it after dark. The food was good but very pricey ($25 USD for dinner of pasta with no veg or protein even for a child who received a smaller portion and of course no wine!) and disappointed there were no local food options. Otherwise very happy with the stay and the staff!"
