"Cannot fault the hotel and staff, however I specifically chose this hotel as it has parking, I have stayed in York many times and know how difficult it can be to get a parking space. I didn’t realise that their parking is open to the public so when we arrived back at the hotel on Saturday afternoon there were no parking spaces, I had to wait until someone left, along with everyone else looking for a space. This might not be a problem for some people, but living in London where parking is a nightmare, I come away to relax and this just stressed me out. A suggestion might be to just keep for hotel guests. I might add that I paid the hotel £22 per day for parking, "

"Plenty of parking available, check-in was easy. Reception area and bar and dining areas were all very nice. There's outside seating, which we put to good use with a couple of beers in the sunshine. Our bedroom was an executive size as we like a bigger bed. Unfortunately the hotel is tired in this area and needs a refurb on the rooms. Little things like ridiculous bedside lights not being bright enough and 1 of our mattresses was a bit 'springy'. (2 beds joined together). The saving grace was the room size and the fact that it was very clean and there was plenty of tea/coffee. The toilet and shower area, although very clean and tidy, were in need of a definite upgrade. Some handyman just needs to go around and put some silicone or trim around the bath area and just look at areas that need work doing etc etc. The extractor fan wasn't working. The staff were amazing, and were extremely helpful. Food was good, especially the venison stew! Breakfast was absolutely fine with usual choice of English breakfast items. I would have liked a few extras like croissants or crumpets but perhaps they may appear at some point in the future. We had a good time over the 2 night stay and had dinner at the hotel both nights. There are a couple of eateries in Huby, just down the road, where you could go to for a change . "

"Room not properly cleaned and toiletries not replenished. Was put in a disabled accessible room which didn’t ask for and was not appropriate"

"It was amazing, the Grand has really friendly and helpful staff from the minute you check in to when you are leaving the hotel. The room service was great with polite people delivering the food and the meals were delicious. They do breakfast in bed service which is so convenient and a real treat. The rooms are spacious with separate wash and bathrooms. Huge comfy bed. Top tier experience."

"So tired and dated. Dark rooms where the light didn’t work and the water didn’t drain in the wash basin. The keys didn’t work and we had to go back to reception upon return. Very friendly helpful staff and a good reception ."
