Baranof Castle State Historical Site

This was taken from the top of the hill where a Russian castle was.

Looking out from the point where Alaska was transferred from Russian possession, to become a territory of the United States in 1867. This hill originally sat directly on the water's edge.

The stairwell is easy to miss and the spot is pretty low key, given its historic importance.
