Otter hotel is a beautiful hotel located at the beginning of the Banff strip. The hotel itself is clean, cozy and awesome. However, the staff were unfriendly and lost. The employees working the front desk seem lost and unable to help. We were given a voucher for the restaurant and went to use it before we checked out. When we talked to the worker at the front desk, she said we can use it and they will charge the room. We asked if we can use it after check out and she said yes. Then, when it came time to pay at the restaurant, the manager at the restaurant said they cannot charge the room since we were checked out. We paid the bill and went back to the front desk for proof that we paid and to get refunded. The worker said “oh sorry I accidentally checked you out but we will figure it out on our end.” We said “will there be a refund?” and she said they will figure it out. Then another person from my party said how frustrating it was that there was miscommunication, as they were already unfriendly to begin with. At this point, another receptionist came to take over the situation saying it wasn’t their fault and that it’s the restaurant’s fault. This came across as unprofessional. Additionally, it doesn’t matter who’s fault it was, we just wanted to correct the situation. He then went and argued with the manager of the restaurant. It is not about the money, but the principal of the situation. All members of the hotel should be passing around the same messaging.
