Old world charm! Though some modernization needed I hope new owners will do it thoughtfully so that it will not take away thr historical value of the hotel.
Pretty good hotel. The breakfast was better than I expected. The staff is super friendly and super helpful. Overall I’ll stay again here.

Deteriorating hotel. Used to be a nice place
I occupied room No. 214. This is my 4th stay during the past 04 years. Beds were terrible. Bed springs were all very loose and saggy and it is more like a hammock. Once you get close to the edge you tend to topple over. Had a narrow shave twice. It leaves you with a terrible back ache in the morning. Toilet was leaking and water from the cistern wets the floor every time the toilet is flushed. They said the ice machine is broken and could not get any ice cubes delivered to the room. I just begin to wonder whether they gave me the worst possible room being a Sri Lankan leaving the better rooms for foreign guests. On previous occasions I can't remember encountering a problem of this nature.
Even the quality of food has deteriorated and it is not any better than an average Rest House run by local authorities.
Dishonest manager...Smelly pillows and sheets...Old and uncomfortable beds..Because the wedding preparations noisy could not sleep.
We loved this old colonial hotel with it's very Britishness . Over 100 years old and still keeping up the old traditions. The gardens are well maintained and beautiful. Excellent food and delightful staff.

Nice and homely
Enjoyed the stay without any trouble. Can ask for more than this in Bandarawela. Conveniently located. Wish the management good luck!
Great value for money. Food and service were very good. Gave us an alternative experience of Sri Lanka. You can't fault it but it is what it is and where it is - so don't expect 5 star luxury and services. Be aware that travelling takes a lot longer than you might think in this whole area.
it was nice to see some old hotel staff who had been working there for a long time and they were friendly and obliging as ever and made us homely.

Nostalgia above comfort
The only plus point is the heritage tag of the property. This was a good experience from that point. Hotel is well decorated with old memorabilia which gives a look into the past.
Velmi hezký hotel, zachovaný ve starém stylu. Přesto ve velmi dobrém stavu. Personál ochotný, a celkově velmi milý.
Very nice old fashioned hotel. Though it is old it´s still in good shape, clean and cozy. Staff were very helpful, and nice. Prices are as all around Lanka bit higher, so it is better to look outside the hotel. For whatever you look, taxi, tuk-tuk, or just a dinner it´s better to go out.
Location just few meters from main road, bus station and railway station. Anyway any off this will not disturb you. The hotel is on little hill separated from all of it by garden.
Overall impression is very good and I would go there again.
