"Location is very convenient for shopping, restaurants, health care. We had stayed at this specific hotel in the past and were completely satisfied. This time, our room faced the highway and was not very quiet. Steps from train tracks with trains using their required horn when passing through crossings. There is no way to get around trains passing through overnight. The hotel was full, meaning paper thin walls having to be dealt with. It was a weeknight when we stayed. No rowdy guests. There was no way to set the temperature in the room. It was either hot and stuffy or very cold. The temperature in the room had to get at least 5 degrees above the thermostat setting before the fan would kick in. The fan would not shut off until the room temp dropped to a couple degrees below the set temperature. Perhaps it was just this room. We have never had this problem when we have stayed there in the past."
"The property is unique and beautiful. The restaurant was good with efficient service. My first floor suite was adjacent to the staircase and the elevator but it was “noisy” until later in the evening. On a positive note, the Suite was enormous! With a huge bathroom.
Overall, very pleased."
SureStay Plus Hotel by Best Western Coralville Iowa City
10/10 Excellent
"The room was clean, and appeared to have been dusted and vacuumed. There was soap, tissue and plenty of towels and washcloths. With that said, though, the bathtub area showed rust stains, and the paint on the tub itself was peeling after having been cleaned at some point with vinegar. We appreckated that management ordered a "deep clean" of that area during the first day we stayed, and they assured us that everything was sanitary. (0 stars)
The bathroom fan had an average amount of noise, but the bathroom door hinges did not squeak (which does happen a lot). The shower temperature and water pressure were great. (1 star)
The mattress was softer than we would have liked, but we still felt well-rested every morning. The air conditioner wasn't overly noisy at bedtime, and was off most of the night. The adjoining rooms and hallways were absolutely quiet, despite the hotel being at full capacity for the four nights we stayed. (1 star)
The breakfast area was clean and well stocked, with a good variety of food, including fruit that was quite fresh. (1 star)
The front desk staff was very helpful. As previously mentioned, they handled our concern about the bathtub area promptly, and they were very efficient checking us in for two rooms that had different arrival/departure dates. (1 star)
Based on these factors, my overall rating is 4 stars."
