There was a problem with Expedia. We had booked for 2 adults and 1 child. For some reason, Bryan and Margaret did not receive the 1 child (11yo) information. Everything was great! If boiled eggs and small yogurts could be added to what is already provided ror breakfast, it would be great! Bryan and Margaret were great and friendly. We will stay there again if we are in Auckland again,

Western Heights Bed and Breakfast

We booked through Hotels.com well in advance of our visit but on arrival Bryan was not expecting us. Fortunately there was a room available. A nice continental breakfast was left out for us which was cereal, croissant, apple puffs or toast. We had a decent sized room with bathroom and toilet down the corridor. This would have been shared but there were no other residents when we stayed. The bed was very comfortable. Bryan was v. helpful and provided a list of local restaurants and take always.

We were very surprised on arrival to be shown a room with no self- contained bathroom. We shared a toilet and shower room with another room. Both of these could have been cleaner, though the shower was very nice, plenty of hot water. The room itself was spacious and comfortable. Very nice firm bed. The entrance way floor was very dirty. Kitchen area was ok. Continental breakfast was acceptable.

Very friendly, helpful owner. I appreciate the help Bryan gave me with my hairdryer. Large room with over-sized love seat and chair for extra seating. Nice to have a desk in the room. Was very surprised to learn that our room shared the kitchenette space and bathroom facilities with another room. It was good that the shower was in a separate room from the toilet, but that was not clear in the description on Expedia (I have registered my complaint with them) as you had to check the description of each room to see that only one had a "private bathroom". It was problematic to have 4 people share access to the toilet one morning. This was the only one of the 11 properties we used in NZ that did not have an electric water kettle for our own use in our room and so had to dress before morning coffee/tea. We were asked to wash our own dishes and had to pre-wash some things before use as they were dirty in the drawer. Breakfast food was a nice assortment but could use more protein (e.g., peanut butter for toast or yogurt). Lovely gardens and had parking.
