"lovely pub owned by the Lowther Estate. Stayed 3 nights while attending a wedding at Askham hall 6 minutes drive away. Food was well above usual pub food, and sourced from the Estate. Recently refubished. Walls a little thin and you could hear voices from room next door. Also no lift and original worn stone stairs to bedrooms, so may not be suitable for those with mobility issues. "The rooms were luxuriously furnished and the hotel overall is very cosy and welcoming. Staff couldn;t do enough to help and the attention to detail was fantastic, everything from bags for walking boots to fresh milk on the landing for in room tea and coffee. A bottle of speciality beer in the room was a bonus."
