"In decades of staying in hostels around the world, I've never encountered such unfriendly staff. Specifically, the young woman with straight pulled-back hair ignored me; worse, the older short gray haired kitchen woman several times barked at me for opening the communal fridge to put and take out my food. On the third instances, I shouted at her to at least say 'please' (in Russian). I felt self-conscious ever after in the kitchen when she was there. There was no instruction about entry access...

"Firstly I LOVE the concept of this hotel giving you 24h from check-in to check out. It's super helpful if you arrive on a late flight, which is normal in Almaty I believe. The staff was helpful and the property was very clean with a convenient location. However, for hot summer days, keep in mind there is NO AC! I don't think this is usually a problem in Almaty as it gets cold in winter, but my top-floor single room was ROASTING on a 35C August day and I hardly slept at all :( They eventually gave me a fan, but yeah it was very uncomfortable and I left early. I think this heat was a rarity however so just check the weather before you come here."
