"This hotel is more a series of rooms with a brief front desk that is available from 4PM - 8PM. Rooms are spacious, but basic. There is Breakfast on offer. But lunch, and no dinner. And also no bar. Therefore you need a car if you are staying here. There are 2 restaurants available in walking distance (approx. 15 mins) and an infrequent public bus / train service which if you miss a bus, wait an hour. Miss a train, wait an hour. "Celebrated an anniversary and birthday while staying at the Waxenstein. An anniversary card and chocolates in our room and a special birthday breakfast table with champagne for my wife’s birthday. All unexpected but greatly appreciated. No doubt our future trip to Grainau will include a stay at the Waxenstein."

"The hotel was really relaxed and the size and temperature of the pool excellent. My fault, I did not note the rooms did not have AC and it was very hot. However, reception were helpful and provided fans which we really appreciated. The location was peaceful and we did not notice the sound of the trains. Our youngest struggled with the food a little but overall, the hotel is truly excellent and staff helpful."
