"I booked this hotel because it fit what I needed: a good location, a proper bed, and a reasonable price. It ended up exceeding my expectations. The room was larger than I expected, comfortable, and very well designed. The bed was good, I had enough space to relax, and the overall quality of the room made it somewhere I was genuinely happy to return to after a long day. The biggest strength was the view. The view from my room was breathtaking and is one of the main reasons I am leaning toward staying here again. For me, a hotel is not just somewhere to leave luggage and sleep; it can also become part of the travel experience. There were two downsides. Staffing was minimal, which may matter if you prefer more traditional hotel service. The hotel was also uphill from the town centre. After all the walking and travelling I had already been doing, I was breathing heavily by the time I reached it. Despite that, the room quality and especially the view outweighed the inconvenience for me. I would seriously consider staying here again."

"A bit run down and since it was off season and mostly empty. At check the receptionist told me that breakfast was complimentary but when i went to the restaurant they said I would have to pay. So this kind of misrepresentation didn’t bode well with me."

"The best thing about the hotel is the Onsen! The price was also reasonable. The hotel is a little on the worn side but still in good shape. It does have a shuttle to/from the echigo-yuzawa station but their hours are limited. The last pickup is 5:30pm if you miss that you will need to hire a taxi (expensive), take a bus (also limited hours) , take the local train to the iwapara station and then a 4 min walk to the hotel (the train is about 1 per hour) or you can walk to the hotel (about 45min)"

"Checkout staff was incredibly kind and helpful. The onsen was welcoming for foreigners and we were informed tattoos were okay too, which was an unexpected surprise. Amenities (including robe for the onsen) were provided and there were vending machines easily accessible as well. Short walk to Yuzawa Station so it was very convenient. Compared to other properties in the area, it was nice to stay in a hotel with a private bathroom for only a slight price increase from hostel-style accommodations. Would recommend!"
