"The room was fine. Very comfy bed and bedding. Cleaning could have been a bit more thorough. There were some cobwebs on the ceiling and a few long black strands of hair (not ours) on the bathroom floor. "

"Last minute booking. Furniture in the room was a little dated but 5 stars for a very comfortable bed, amazing bathroom with great shower. Lovely staff who were friendly and could not do enough for us. Loved the extra touches - packets of fudge in the room, decent tea, bottled water and good biscuits. Decent breakfast. Loved the old world grandeur of the building. Would recommend this hotel and we will be back. Shout out to The olive tree restaurant - amazing food"

"Clean and tidy. Night time staff not so sure of what they needed to do. For example, I paid for parking but they didn’t give us a ticket to display in the car which could have resulted in a fine for us. It was only after we asked that a ticket was produced. "

"We took our little dog with us and the only place we could eat whilst with her was the conservatory. This is a nice space but the floor was not cleaned from when we arrived and had something to eat there (a chip was dropped on the floor). It was still there with other crumbs late morning Sunday which didnt seem very sanitary. The spa was terrible - overcrowded, not the peaceful hushed space described in the leaflet. My husband refused to attend all of his sessions due to this. He could not even find a place to sit in there let alone get access to the facilities, as it was full of giggling women toting glasses of champagne and taking up all available space. Very poor indeed and we wont be returning. "

"Sadly the friendliness and helpful nature of the staff cannot excuse some of the basic fundamental issues that I have experienced over the last few stays at this hotel. I decided to stay here as I am a keen swimmer and the facilities here are great in that regard. Unfortunately I seem to be unable to get the same quality of room between stays even though I always book the same room type. If it’s not noisy pipes it is television sets that don’t work properly or some other basic requirement that is lacking. It’s a real shame as it has the potential to be a really great hotel but is being mis-managed with not enough emphasis on hotel maintenance. A special mention should be made to Sanda, Megan and Felicity on the desk who all went out of their way to make up for the hotel’s shortcomings, and I can’t praise them enough. Hotel management however need to stay behind."
