I could not give this place a five or fours across the board because there was a few things that was not up to par. First of all no TV in the room to catch up on news which wasn’t a big deal. The fireplace didn’t work and upon telling the staff about it it wasn’t repaired Before the next day when we left. The small movable mirror in the bathroom was broken… The switch had been pushed in. I fix this on my own so that my wife could use it. I gave the staff fours because upon telling the front desk manager the situation when we checked out he did knocked some money off the total bill

So sorry for the owners, the heat went out on the first night because of the unseasonably freezing cold temperatures. The staff were kind and very helpful but we ended up needing to leave because we had young children and the temperature inside the room was in the 50s. Except for the heating issue,, the accommodations were very nice, the food and drinks at the restaurant were excellent

Avoid this place (for now as least as its clearly going through a management change) The room was OK but the shower was the same shower you get in motel 6, the furniture looks like its 50 years old, there is no TV and no room service (for now). The lady at the front desk told me the fact they still use old room keys instead of keycards is for a "nostalgic feeling"....red flag #1 The staff was pretty clueless, probably to no fault of their own, as it didn't seem like anyone knew who was in charge or supposed to be doing what. You will wait 20-30 minutes for anyone to even notice you at the bar or restaurant, then that applies to waiting for your order to be taken and to get the check. We got talking to the bartender one night who was clearly treading water to keep up with all the drink orders for the entire bar and restaurant and she even told us staff housing was a "big issue" right now. Just goes to show you how the staff is being treated. The food was actually good but everything took so long we just ended up avoiding the onsite the bar/restaurant and went to the brewery 20 minutes away. Last but not least, we went to the spa at the end of the trip and the manager there was a joke. We booked a 90 min massage but she accidentally booked us for 60. She asked me in front of the whole staff if I wanted to her bump the people behind us or just do a 60 min. Why is that my responsibility, if you are the manager you need to own that mistake. Not going back unless it changes

I have been visiting Winthrop my entire life (51 years) and I have always wanted to stay at the Sun Mountain Lodge. My family has a cabin in Winthrop and there has never been a reason for me to actually stay at the lodge. However, I have been up to visit many times for lunch and cocktails and have always enjoyed it. Well, this past weekend, I surprised my daughter with a stay at the lodge for a little winter getaway for her 26th birthday. I was sadly so disappointed!!! The facility and grounds are beautiful, however, the service was terrible and the food wasn’t much better. They shut down breakfast at 10:30 but don’t open for lunch until noon. There was a big gap of time to eat when we wanted to sleep in. Our sink was plugged, old gross water in it, and our shower faucet was broken, I reported it immediately and nobody showed up during our 2 night/3 days stay to repair it. Staff was nowhere to be found, we ordered a coffee from the dining room, and waited 25 minutes to get it. Dinner took us two hours, and our reservation was almost an hour late. The menu seemed small and limited …. Not sure if this is because of winter. Staff were not knowledgeable and literally moved at a snails pace. The facility and view were beautiful as alway, but the services were beyond disappointing. Most definitely not a “luxury hotel”. Spa services were decent, but they did not guarantee that they would have staff to provide our services when I made a reservation.

Perfect Autumn Getaway!
Oh my. The resort is fabulous. We loved the lodge and surroundings, the amazing setting and trail systems, the restaurants in the lodge and all the great places to relax in front of fireplaces. The game room is an added bonus - my sister and I played pool for the first time in years. While I’m not a fan of dead animal heads on walls, the soaring beauty of the architecture in the lodge, particularly, was fabulous. An added bonus was the first snowfall of the season happening during our visit. It was a wonderland, yet the drive back over the North Cascades Highway was clear, safe and beautiful! We loved everything about this stay with just a couple of exceptions. The sofa was ultra-soft and difficult to get comfortable on (and out from). Since there is no TV (which I hadn’t noticed when I made the reservations) having a sofa in this condition made it difficult to use the coffee table/sofa/chair arrangement to play board games or cards in the evenings. (We managed to get used to the lack of TV, but I know that might be extremely difficult for some.) This is a wonderful place and we will be back. Thank you to the staff who helped make this visit one of the best getaways my sister and I have ever had!

We enjoyed the deck of our room & that was pretty much it. The lights in our bathroom glitched & it was super sketchy to turn them on so we just didn’t. The dinner options were very sparse (at least on the side of the wall we were on) & they only offered 1/2 the menu on one side of the wall & the other 1/2 on the other side??? We will not be staying here again but the view was beautiful

This is a lovely location. Everyone is so nice and the rooms are really comfortable. We enjoyed having a seating area right in front of the fireplace in our room. Had great coffee in the room. The dining room had terrific offerings. It was just a great place to stay.

Sloppy room service as we found someone else's shirt in closet and sunglasses on the balcony. Short staff at the grill, slow service. Too bad only dinning option since this place is kind of remote.
