Having made a reservation through Expedia and having received emailed confirmations, on my arrival at Grand Hotel, the staff had not the foggiest idea I was coming. It was only through their efforts I was accommodated."

"Had a choice to stay here while visiting Whangarei. The room was tidy, and the bed was super comfy. As a solo traveller, I found the location very handy and felt totally safe. Heaps of parking right outside, which was sweet as. The staff are absolute legends, so helpful and friendly. Cheers for the great hospitality!"

"Good location to walk around near the marina. Like most staff in Australia, they are not big on small talk. Our room, we had to keep the drapes closed because it was in a major walk-way. But it was a good room and we liked the queen sized beds. Restaurants close early on Sunday night so get in early enough to eat at 7."

The room we had was very dated, the carpet needs a good clean or wash, the toilet has a layer of light brown on the bottom, the noises from the road outside kept us awake late night and early in the morning.
