"My stay at the Residence Inn by Marriott Lake Norman was extremely disappointing. The first issue was the cleanliness of our room. A boot was left under the bed from a previous guest, which immediately made me question how well the room had been cleaned. The biggest concern was the pool area. "The check-in staff was not pleasant at all. The hotel smelled like cigarettes and I am not a smoker. The suite looked like it had not been booked in a while. It had not been vacuumed or dusted in a while. It did not have a fresh smell to it at all. Aluminum foil was covering something in the ceiling and the television only had a sound (no picture). I informed the morning clerk an and his reaction was wow! Definitely OVERPRICED!!!! I will never stay there again and definitely will not recommend...

"Genuinely not sure why the price is expensive here. My girlfriend was stuck in the shower due to the door not open/ close properly, no microwave(anywhere in the building, so don’t bring left overs), a lukewarm fridge, no complimentary water, no pool, breakfast not included, and a daily parking fee to top it off. I always book with the Marriott family but this is by far the most under whelming experience I’ve ever had. I genuinely wanted to cancel my stay and go to the Hilton. Will never return."
