"Very dated, needs a refurb. Beautiful building with lots of potential. Needs better toiletries in the bathroom. Breakfast was lovely. Taxis came instantly."

"All the staff were helpful The Breakfast area has a gluten free station with bread rolls etc and a designated toaster Shame they don’t get their sausages from Tesco as they are GF but they cooked me veggie ones instead which was lovely. The food on the Restaurant was amazing - I’m not usually one to rave over food but the Sea Bass meal was delicious Was unaware I had to pay £6 to park which I felt was a bit steep on top of the room"

Mercure Maidstone Great Danes Hotel

"The hotel stands in its own grounds just of the M20 junction. It is large hotel with three floors and long corridors. Checkin went ok and we were allocated a third floor room overlooking the old tennis court (now used a truck park). The room is a little dated but functional. The shower worked ok inside a bathtub. There is no Aircon however as we stayed in a cool period, the windows gave adequate ventilation. The beds were firm and comfortable. The resturant provides a good Breakfast for £12 /head with a bar next door. We attended an event in the adjacent function room which was well organised. The leasure facilites are good with a large swiming pool, hot tub and steam room. Overall I would rate this mid 3 star hotel."

"The hotel is in a great location on the sea front. The staff are professional, very helpful and very friendly. Our double room was basic but quite nice. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom and shower were very nice. The only thing I would point out is that the carpet and curtains needed cleaning. There is a bar and entertainment area and they have live entertainment on some nights. I visit Eastbourne quite often and would stay again as the price is very reasonable."

"At a cost of £196 per night, without breakfast. There is a charge of £20 per person to use the pool and sauna - no treatments. Never been charged to use a hotel pool, as a paying guest. Dinner - 6 of us, steak arrived without the ordered mash and peppercorn sauce ( no sauce at all) took 14 mins to get sauce and potato. Sauce was separated, with a layer of ? Oil on top, terrible. 2 of the party got food 15 mins before the rest of us. My food was ok, bu I ordered broccoli as a side, which was cold. Breakfast luke warm. Bath would not empty, switch broken. Blinds won't open. Pool and jacuzzi were very cool. outside sauna took 15 mins to heat up. Ordered coffee in the lounge beside reception on, as it was served we were ushered out to the 'champagne ' bar at the other end of the Hotel, as they had to set up for a conference lunch in the lounge. Would never stay here again, and some guests we talked to had paid £350 per night!!"

The Grand Hotel Eastbourne

"Positives: We had a lovely stay overall. The hotel itself is beautiful, and the rooms were very well presented. We stayed in two different rooms after extending our trip, and both were equally nice. The pool areas were great and well-kept, although a few more loungers would have been helpful during busier times. The location is excellent, with a wonderful beach directly opposite the hotel, which made it especially enjoyable. The reception and concierge staff were superb. Room for improvement: The continental breakfast could be better. Service in the breakfast and lunch areas could be improved. While staff were friendly and accommodating once engaged, we often experienced long waits to be seated at breakfast despite visible queues and available staff. Similarly, on the outdoor terrace, service was slow or absent at times—we waited over 15 minutes without being attended to and eventually had to order at the bar. The games room was also quite basic and could be enhanced to better match the overall quality of the hotel however offered some fun options for the kids."
