The Maq Hotel

"The hotel has been upgraded but the bath wasn’t as clean as it could be. The staff were helpful but the restaurant could use some improvement as we were told a 15 min wait, turned into 20 and then we were told they could t seat us as the kitchen was too overwhelmed so left us sitting in the lobby for 40 mins. A better choice would be to seat us and allow us to have a drink while waiting as the restaurant was not even half full, nor was the deck. Food was good. Parking is terrible. Lot is all gravel and not enough space as others park there without passes which seems to be not monitored"

"We had a wonderful stay at Black Bear Guesthouse! The location is great, and the suite was beautiful, super clean, and very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It’s within walking distance of beautiful Chesterman Beach and also close to grocery stores and everything you may need. We stayed for three nights with our two daughters and really enjoyed our time there. This was our third visit to Tofino, and this stay made it even more special. We would definitely love to come back again! ❤️"

"The property/suite is on the larger side, with high ceiling. The facilities are adequate but getting dated and a bit sparsely furnished and decorated. The bathroom is clean and very well maintained but on the smaller side and need more cabinets and counter space. The walk in shower with curtain is typical Canadian pre built Vinyl/PVC shower stall but functional. The location is on a very quiet area and has easy access to the main roads and paths to nearby beaches and parks . Access to the property was easy, thanks to the property manager, who showed us the location, and basics of the facilities. We booked the Heron King suite on the lower level and it is a part of a multiplex of other suites, so it may get noisy depending on renters on the second level suites. Parking is adequate and with easy access to the unit. The unit is NOT a high end luxury accommodation but can be home away from home depending on the unit renter needs and wants."
