On this occasion there was an administration error and the hotel rebooked us into a more expensive high end resort hotel to compensate us. This was completely hassle free and was very much appreciated. They carried all the costs. Nice! I have stayed in this hotel previously and it is a good quality, clean, safe hotel which is near by some excellent restaurants in Umhlanga Rocks. They obviously care about customer experience.

Amazing hotel in Umhlanga
Most amazing hotel in the heart of Umhlanga. Every aspect of our stay was 5 star, from an amazing check-in all the way to our departure. Most definitely excellent value for money and a perfect location.

Wonderful experience! 5 star comfortable room, beautiful views, and convenient location to shops and restaurants and of course, the ocean. Breakfast (additional cost) also very good with several options and eggs made to order.

As a loyal, monthly returning client at Protea Marriott, i was sorely disappointed with the level of service. I was given room 552. Which has no sea view. It has a whole wall blocking even sunlight into the room & a view of the flat across. I requested a change of room as i checked in around 5pm. I was told they fully booked and the lady who checked me in, didnt even check if i could be moved. She was so unhelpful! Also in my room, the amenities keep getting worse with each visit. I didnt even have tissues this time round. Also, get new towels.

No amenities
Previously there use to be individual amenities for shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. This time, there was ONE bottle for all 3 in the shower. As a woman, i was horrified. There is no longer a shower cap given or even a devent sized soap.

Umhlanga Ricks Hotel for Furban
Ideally located in a street full of excellent restaurants. Hotel Staff all very friendly and helpful. Large room with two Queen beds and a ( slight) view to the Sea. Would stay here in Umhlanga Rocks again if visiting Durban ( 20 min drive away)

Nice hotel in the Umhlanga Rocks area, the entrance can be tricky to spot, its just next to the restaurants and bars on the right hand side of the "Umhlanga Rocks" sign! Rooms are comfy, quiet, clean, spacious. Nice breakfast. Lovely staff. Good load shedding protection, didn't notice outages at all. Recommended
