This is a review of both hotels.com and the motel.
For Hotels.com - they messed up our booking, and the motel flat out said we never received it from hotels.com even though we had confirmation that we booked 3 weeks prior. Motel could not accommodate as they had no room left. We ended up at 7pm with young kids in car trying to figure out how to manage food and stay after a long vacation day, ruined. Hotel.com has no listed easy way to reach a support rep, which we had to dig and find via Google. Then there was a 30 min wait. Agent simply said after another 30 min that they can reassign us to another team for finding alternate. As it was long weekend, we checked in multiple places during the hour long wait on phone with them and realized the hotels.com had nothing. Ended up cancelling to try on our own.
Motel - we felt looted/cheated. Why? Because they did have a room (with 1 Q bed instead of 2), but they had it and lied earlier. And they then later gave it to us after cancelling with hotels.com, for $50 more per night instead. With family, we had no leverage to negotiate and ended up having to pay. Room was super small with barely a space to move for family of 4 and charge was like a 3 star hotel.
Unless you have absolutely no place else to check, would not recommend hotels.com to trust in their booking, or going to this motel if you did not book with them directly.
Motel room itself is fine, nothing to talk about. We left following morning to find another place.
