"Tremendous accommodation for 3 nights in Tortuguero. The lodge sits squarely between the ocean and the canal, a two minute walk between them. There was such an open, relaxed, spacious feel to the beautiful grounds and sitting areas and even a hammock-filled gazebo by the river for napping. Lovely and helpful staff, passionate and extraordinary guide Daniel, amazing iguanas and basilisks everywhere, fantastic restaurant ambience and breakfast, large, clean and airy rooms with a great huge open shower and powerful adjustable ceiling fan with good beds and pillows made sleeping a breeze without AC. Easy 10 minute walk to town. Witnessing hard working mama turtles during green turtle nesting season and getting to see hatchlings racing to the ocean was truly magical."
"I have never received better customer service than at Miss Junie’s. Nory and her staff are attentive and committed to hospitality. The rooms are very clean. The building and grounds are beautiful and old, worn by time, but with character. The afternoon ocean breeze is cooling and the beach is shaded in the late afternoon. There are old trees on the grounds where iguanas live and macaws visit. The property is also adjacent to the town and the river, and a short walk from the turtle conservatory. Nory and her family are committed to environmental stewardship and the community of Tortuguero."
"This was such a lovely stay. The rooms are a really generous size, with amazing views of the river and surrounded by incredible wildlife. You really are in the middle of it. It's also helpful that the airstrip is just on the other side of the river, making it super easy to get there and back (but with so few flights, it's not a disturbance). We had some incredible activities with the reception staff incredibly helpful and the guides super knowledgable and it's clear they love what they do. Manuel in particular was incredible. And even though it rained almost consistently (nothing anyone can do about that), as soon as we came back from activities, the staff were waiting with towels and drinks for us. They also had an abundance of wellies and ponchos, which were super helpful. The only thing that was a little more challenging were the restaurant opening times. As there's literally one restaurant, if you didn't eat before an evening activity or wanted a drink later in the evening (past 8:30pm), you didn't have any options and there was no one to serve you. Minor inconvenience for such a stunning location. And the wi-fi was brilliant, too. And the food was very good."
"9/10!! Great staff. Good breakfast. Amazing views from the deck. Conveniently located downtown Tortuguero. The tour guide, Luis, we had was great. I highly recommend Casa Marbella, and their tours!"
"The staff at this hotel are nothing short of incredible. They go out of their way to make sure their guests are comfortable and taken care of. We did all the tours with their partner Tuanis Tours and found the guides knowledgeable and fun. All the tours went on a little longer because the guides were determined to make sure we saw all animals possible. They even made the tours enjoyable the few times we got caught in the rain. The hotel was also super accommodating and helpful when a storm changed our return travel plans. Also the location is prime, the hangout space by the beach so tranquil. And it’s really great value for the price. Highly recommend booking and using them to organize all your time in Tortuguero"
"The hotel is close to the Tortuguero NP which means you will probably need to get a boat to get there. Once there it is a beautiful resort with a series of cabins connected by paths. The place is teeming with life. As soon as we arrived a group of spider monkeys started playing on the path to our cabin, right in front of us. You can book many activities at the front desk. We did the canal by boat, went to see the green turtles lay eggs at the beach and a night walk to spot some animals. They also have a large pool and restaurant and bars. The one reason why I am not giving it a top score is because the cabins were pretty basic. They were clean, but matresses could have been more comfortable. The bathroom had a shower with all the basic toiletries. There was no TV, fridge or air conditioning. Luckily for us, it was not extremely hot during our stay or otherwise it would have been impossible to sleep. On the plus side it had a small terrace where you could sit and enjoy the jungle around you. Breakfast was served everyday in the main restaurant. It was good and there was plenty to choose from, with cold and hot options. We had dinner in the restaurant as well. It was buffet style with a limited number of options to choose from, but enough for the two nights we spent there. Nevertheless, I think it is one of the best options to stay near Tortuguero and enjoy all the nature around you."
