Hotel de Orangerie by CW Hotel Collection - Small Luxury Hotels of the World
8/10 Good
"The room was very nice, room 110 is on the 1st floor and directly above the canal and loading station for canal trips, bizarrely the room is never dark at night, it is floodlit from the other side of the hotel and there are lights outside of the windows that never go off, one of the staff said a city law said all lights had to go off by 10pm, so if you do want a dark room make sure it is not looking down on the canal.
The lounge and dining room are very nice, the breakfast is very good, but you should not have to pay extra for fried eggs etc when you have paid over 400 euros for the room, that is an insult.
Location is great, some of the visitors to Bruge are not so nice, there were roudy scenes by what can best be described as lager louts who think think it funny to shout at their mates who are going on a canal boat ride, this happened in the evening and the following morning, nothing the hotel can do but perhaps the politie could."
"Great hotel in a fab location. Lovely staff. Our attic room was quite small and slightly dated in comparison to our other family members rooms who were on the first floor, despite all booking the same level of room. Nice to have the option of a swimming pool, but it was very cold! Very nice bar area."
"It's in a really good spot for tourists but parking can be difficult. The room was nice and spacious. Breakfast has a wide variety of things which was the same every day. Kids under a certain age are free for breakfast. They also do a promotion that you get a free drink at the bar if you decide ahead of time to skip the cleaners. We originally thought it was only one drink but it seemed like a free drink per person per day because we had 8 vouchers."
"From the moment we walked through the door the staff were friendly, attentive and warm. Hotel was spotless, rooms comfortable and cosy. We were upgraded which was a lovely start to our 3 night stay. I couldn't fault the hotel and it's staff, unfortunately we needed to use the hotels complimentary umbrellas as the weather was not playing the game for a day. We had breakfast one morning, great variety and well presented. I think the cost was slightly high but perhaps would be lower if booked in advance? Location is great, a few minutes walk to the main square. I would highly recommend to anyone thinking of visiting Brugges."
"Parking in front of hotel using meter, we were surprised no fees from 8pm to 7AM, clerk recommended off site parking for 10 EU but attendance said 10 for today & 10 EU for tomorrow cash only!! So we left, seems dishonest since we parked from 6pm to 7AM & he charged 2 days, ripped off !! Beach was beautiful, soft sands & dinner at local eatery very cheap for France, some restaurants demanded cash only!! Must try to avoid taxes!!"
