"We were marooned in the Kames Hotel when excessive rain, flooding and landslides closed all the roads out. We could not manage to get to the wedding we had come to attend (neither could the celebrant, hairdresser, makeup artiste..) but we sat in all our finery with glass in hand beside a roaring ..."

"Food in restaurant excellent. Room good size ,shower pressure very disappointing. Restaurant staff on Sunday night very very good, not the same on the Monday night sadly. Leisure facilities good. Will definitely return but will book a room with a view ......."

"We spent 3 nights in the St Ninians flat upstairs. The view across the Clyde was fabulous, possibly better than the downstairs flats. The house is well placed for travelling around the island with bus stops nearby. It was kept very clean and the beds were very comfortable and the heating came on ..."

Country cottage, peace and quiet
"Beautiful spot in the countryside with a wee stream running behind the cottage, very peaceful. We booked as 5 adults, Hotels.com simply stated 2 double beds and 2 single beds. Did not say that all but one double bed were in the same room… so my husband and 24 year old son had to take one room, and ..."

Ferry terminal right behind property, very handy as we visited Tarbert. Only negative was the single track road to Portavadie -albeit with passing areas - quite hairy, especially when large logging wagons use the same road, and this was the A road!
