Washington View From The Vista House
I drove down to the Camas pier to get some photos of the sun setting on Mt. Hood. No sooner had I arrived than I heard the familiar whistling sounds of a pair of Bald Eagles. I looked up in time to see a pair maybe thirty feet above me.

However, this is not a nesting pair. One of these females is trying to chase the other out of her territory. It is difficult to tell which one is doing the chasing and which one is being chased.

The two veered off and curled back towards the West without giving me any clear indication of whose territory was being protected.

However, I did get to see this, which was a nice bonus for a supposedly "scenics only" day.
The trail drops abruptly at what all would consider its end about a mile away from the trailhead. Fortunately or not, this last mile is actually an old country road that passes a few hundred feet below the gorge highway (State Highway 14) only to intersect with it at the very end.

Technically speaking, this last stretch of road is part of the Cape Horn Trail, and is picturesque enough to warrant that categorization.
