Things to do in Padirac

Activities, attractions and tours

Travelling around the South West of France and you could come across the Gouffre de Padirac. The Padirac caves are amazing with visitors descending 75m before entering the cave which is at a depth of 103 m and a river system that is about 19km long. Take a boat trip along the subterranean system. Reasonably priced and so worth the visit. A short drive after your visit and a stop in a local village for soup du jour en vin rouge and, what a day! #travel #traveltheworld #nature #caves #parks

The impressive descend into the subterranean river and cave system at Padirac.

The visit lasts 1.5h and is done partly by boat and partly walking. I strongly advice you to buy your tickets a few weeks in advance through the Internet. Lines at the entrance to buy same day tickets can take hours!
Magic place!
Going 95 meters down.

This cave was absolutely amazing, incredibly beautiful with interesting stories told by guides.
However, important to note, that it's really wet, there's water dripping from the "ceiling" in certain areas, the path is flooded everywhere.
Of course, you should wear a pair of sports shoes and warm cloths. When you arrive there, you have to get downstairs either on foot taking stairs or by taking an elevator. Once you reached the bottom of the cave, you'll be offered a little boat trip to the other side of the cave where the guides meet you and are ready to tell you about the history of the cave.
Fun fact: I was lucky enough to see a red frog in the water since it's an extremely rare thing to see living creatures there as they don't "show themselves" too often.
Personally, I enjoyed it and would advise to visit it. I probably would not visit it again as I've been to plenty of caves before but this one is definitely worth a shot.
