The firework festivals always start with a bang.

The Ichikawa Shimin Noryo Firework Festival (also known as Edogawa Firework Festival from the otherside of the river) is one of the most popular and largest firework festivals in the greater Tokyo area, launching 14 thousand fireworks for everyone to enjoy.

Every year they bringing in a crowd of approx. 490 thousand people on the Ichikawa side of the river (Chiba), and another 900 thousand people on the Edogawa ward side (Tokyo). So it's pretty crowded but completely worth it if you like festivals, fireworks, and/or have never seen either in Japan before!

But even if you miss this one (first Sat of August every year), in the summer there are firework festivals in various places around the greater Tokyo area (and other cities throughout Japan) every weekend, so just find one that fits your schedule and enjoy! :)
