Gouda's city hall sits in the middle of the wide square in their city centre. Built in the 14th century, it is the oldest Gothic town hall in the country. It's surrounded by delicious shops that sells cheese and stroopwafels. #architecture
The word Stadhuis in Dutch means City Hall, however Stadhuis Gouda with it's gothic architecture, stonework and spires could be easily mistaken for just another church.

Built in 1450 it sits regally in the centre of Gouda's cobblestone paved market square and now houses the mayor's office, council chambers and function rooms that can be hired.

Many of the external windows have distinctive red wooden shutters and on the right facing wall is a carillon with mechanical puppets that move with the bells. The bells chime with a very unique clear quality for 2 minutes after the full and half hour.
