The fall, and winter, and soon to be spring rains have left the local waterways near overflowing in every part of the region. This is a section of a creek -- that's right, lil' ol' Lacamas Creek -- turned into a raging torrent by an incessant parade of storms, squalls and bands of showers lumbering their way across the countryside.
The lake itself is essentially a reservoir, built behind a dam constructed in the late 19th century to power the local pulp mill. The dam is just a beautiful antique now, and the reservoir "reserves" the water for little more than recreation.
