"We stayed at the Kames while exploring the area which is so beautiful. The hotel is ideally situated in an idyllic setting. The food was superb, especially the homemade steak pie! The Scottish Breakfast is the best we've tasted. Highly recommend this hotel."

"Interesting historic building. Great location. Renovations in progress- but no disturbance- it’s a long term project. Enjoyed the grandeur. And seating areas and the bar.A negative was they forgot to clean our room so we had to get new provisions and towels. A bit quirky. Generally a good place to stay on Islay."

"Room was spotless as were all facilities. We made good use of swimming pool which was amazing and part of the cost of our room. So glad we booked restaurant as the meal we had was first class. All the staff were very friendly, polite and professional."

"Stonefield Castle is a magical place. We had a room with a view of the Loch which was spectacular. The restaurant where breakfast is served has views over the Loch, the gardens, and the woods. All of the staff were very helpful and friendly. The gardens and the shore are so beautiful."

"The hotel was nice. The food at the Brassels was better than the Cruzerie (?). The hotel was pet friendly. The rooms were a great size and comfortable. Unfortunately, we couldn't do much as you have to book everything in advance. We were not aware that you had to plan ahead."

"Wonderful B&B. Really friendly and the full cooked Scottish breakfast was done brilliantly (poached egg, plus not greasy sausages/haggis etc). Would recommend. Nice views from the breakfast dining area towards the island of Inchmamock."

"Staff very helpful and able to deal with all questions. Good breakfast made to order and very good dinner in hotel restaurant. Free parking is available all along the street; all local amenities are easily accessible on foot. The internal fabric of the hotel is rather tired and worn, and would benefit from some refurbishment; fixtures and fittings show some - largely cosmetic - wear and tear which might be better maintained. This would make it more aesthetically attractive."
