"Could not find much to fault. The room was spotless, well appointed, with mini fridge, table, two chairs, with an enviable view of the lake. The shower/bathtub was a plus. However it did not have a microwave nor was not able to log on the internet. Very pleased with my room."

"The room was clean and as expected. The bathroom showed signs of wear with little bits of mold in the shower. There was a jacuzzi tub which we didn’t use but someone may find that useful if you have little children who need baths rather than showers. There was shampoo and body wash but no hair conditioner. The best part of this property was the location and the meal voucher for the restaurant next door. That was completely worth it. The location is perfect for walking to the church and around the lake. Overall this was a perfect stop for us from Christchurch on our way to Mt. Cook."

"Lodging at this hotel felt less like checking into transient housing and more like experiencing the advantages of a meticulously administered private home. The overall design provided an idiosyncratic duality: the front façade presented a warm classic charm, while the rear opened up to sweeping, that framed the landscape well. However, the true magic lay in the gardens. It wasn't just landscaping; it was a living storybook. With its winding, moss-draped paths, rolling green hills, and clusters of ancient, gnarled trees, the grounds possessed an ethereal quality where one could easily imagine Hobbits tending their vegetable patches or smoking a pipe on a sun-drenched porch. This is also a means to visit Mt Cook and vicinity on a budget."
