"It’s a serene place in the countryside, I really appreciated the planetarium & observatory experience there. The staff and the owner are all very nice, they will help you with anything you need. My room was so big, I couldn’t believe it. The bathroom was bigger than some hotel rooms in Tokyo."

"Pros: Good value. Spacious rooms. Relatively large beds. Quiet area. Easy, ample parking. Hotel connected to a convenience store. Good free breakfast. Walking distance to Amaterasu train attraction. Cons: A bit further away from Takachiho Gorge, about 5min drive. No view from hotel. Laundry was a bit expensive, had to buy detergent from the front desk separately from the laundry machine fee. "

"Excellent séjour! Hôtel à 1 min à pied de la gare JR et des bus pour excursions dans la région. Très pratique pour voyageur sans auto! Hôtel flambant neuf et chambre hyper confortable (presque luxueuse). La literie est excellente (matelas "Simmons" probablement haut de gamme). Super insonorisation, hygiène assurée, et personnel très professionnel et attentionné: J'avais fait une demande spéciale "vue sur volcan" lors de la réservation et celle-ci a été honorée (même si pas d'obligation): un dernier étage face à la montagne des volcans m'a été attribué. Cela a contribué à la qualité du séjour malgré la pluie et le temps très nuageux."

"We stayed in the annex of the main property. It’s a very Classical Japanese room. The room was spacious and we enjoyed the private onsen. The manager is super nice ( but it’s useful to speak a bit of Japanese). He drove us to the main building for dinner ( and try the other onsen). It is also easy to go to the main street by foot. Dinner and breakfast were very copious and typical of riyokans. "

"Very nice staff, free spa/public bath, and nice room. We tried the dinner buffet, but we would not recommend. Selection was limited and quality was less then expected based on price."

"It was an excellent stay. The place is neat and comfortable, the staff are very friendly and helpful. The food was amazing, showcasing the freshness of Kyushu's local ingredients. Not to mention the private bath with sauna room. I would definitely come back for another stay at Takachiho. "

"The property was more like a business hotel setting with a small room. If you're looking for Japanese experience, it's not a property for you. However, it was fairly new and clean, the staff was very friendly, and the service was awesome! Our reservation didn't include dinner or breakfast, but we were able to add breakfast for ¥1500 per person at the check in. We didn't add dinner because there were plenty of restaurants near the hotel to close from. The front desk staff provided us with a map of all restaurants in the area. The breakfast there was a buffet style with basic Japanese items such as rice, miso soup, grilled fish, natto, tofu, etc. Not too spectacular, but it was fair. One last thing - the hotel is not a walking distance from the gorge for average American people."

"Free family activities like badminton, table tennis, putter. Nice onsen as well. Room is slightly smaller than what we expected for a resort though. Friendly staff. Overall great stay."
