"Yingze Hotel is conveniently located across from the Convention Center. While it ls listed as 5 star, the hotel is dated and probably was one of the best once upon a time. I have not seen a large round clock in a room in a long time. It could use maintenance work as the bathroom door lock would not lock, the toilet flush handle had cracked and the bathtub caulk needed replacing. The staff was extremely helpful on the 6th floor where I was staying. I had a room that was facing the west and it...

"Great place to stay in Taiyuan. All the rooms are on the upper floors of a tower block - ours had a great view over the busy city to a lake and distant mountains (when the smog cleared!) The facilities of the hotel are top class and there's an excellent Chinese restaurant - great choice of delicious food at reasonable prices. On the other hand the breakfast wasn't particularly good value."
