This is an original Sydney property that has had a refurbishment. They have done a tasteful job, rooms nicely decorated, good bathroom, good air con. Clever use of space - library/sitting room boutique feel and great to have coffee on tap any time. Breakfast simple but all home made/baked. Staff super friendly and helpful. Great location walk anywhere

Overpriced for an old pub. Nicely furnished, but let down by cracked tiles, dirty worn carpets and badly scuffed walls. Loud music on rooftop was so bad I could barely hear TV.

Small hotel in Sydney

The booking confirmation did not have a phone number to the hotel. It would have been useful. The hotel was like a European small hotel. Very friendly. Good but limited breakfast. Good beds. Limited storage. Had a safe. Very friendly. Excellent location.

The Strand is a historical aged hotel but kept in good condition. The rooms are small but clean. The hotel doesn't have an elevator but it is only 3 stories high. Also, the staff carried the luggage to your room. We loved Gloria who attended to our needs. The complimentary breakfast was limited but nice. One main plus was the hop on hop off bus stopped across the street from the hotel. The metro bus also stopped there too! Lastly, the cruise port terminal at Circular Quay was very close to us. About $32 Aus by taxi. We would stay there again if in town.

Stayed here for one night whilst visiting the city. A 15/20 minute walk to the CBD and lots of attractions nearby. The room was beautiful, giving Parisian vibes. Super clean and cosy. The bed was so comfy, I had a brilliant night's sleep. The Library was the coolest!! Loved how relaxed the breakfast environment was. Completed with a great mix of continental options, tea and coffee, I loved it! (Only criticism is that something a little savoury would be nice). The staff were so friendly and helpful. We also went to the rooftop bar and tried some of their cocktails. Super chill, with a great view of the Sydney skyline at night. I would recommend this place to anyone! Thank you.

Lovely, small hotel

This is lovely, quaint hotel. There are no elevators, but a maze of staircases! It was fun. Only 17 or 18 rooms. Gloria, at reception, was very friendly, helpful, and welcoming. I think we checked in around 11 a.m., and she asked if we’d had breakfast. When we said no, she offered to bring us up some breakfast! When we had breakfast the next day, it was lovely - a nice assortment of cold foods - banana bread, cookies, fruit, granola, yogurt and cold meats like prosciutto. Orange juice, too. Each floor had a water station, with cold water and hot water for tea. Eco friendly!

We enjoyed our stay in this lovely boutique hotel. Excellent location if you enjoy a bit of a walk. Hyde Park, Australia Museum and George Street a short walk away. Darling Harbour attractions less than a half hour walk away. The Big Bus Sydney stop was conveniently just across the street. We walked to the hotel from the cruise ship terminal early in the morning and were pleasantly surprised when we were able to check in early. Do keep in mind that the hotel is multiple stories connected by a narrow staircase and there is no elevator. It wasn't at all a problem for us since we're mobile and had minimal luggage. The staff offered to help carry the luggage up the stairs. If you have mobility issues or a lot of luggage this may be an issue for you. Our room was clean, beautiful and larger than I expected. The Nespresso machine in the room and the included breakfast was certainly appreciated! Also convenient was a Woolworth's grocery store across the street. I would not hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend it (as long as stairs aren't an issue for you).

The Strand provided a comfortable and convenient stay for the first few days I spent travelling around. The included breakfast was more of a holdover snack until I could get an actual meal, but was nice to have nonetheless. The room was clean, but worn. The bottom of the curtains and the area around the window were stained with water damage. The rooftop bar was nice, but required a booking. Staff were all friendly and helpful. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was spacious. For the price paid The Strand was great!
