I chose a river view deluxe studio king room. It had a view of the river over an abandoned junk yard. The balcony was so small that two people could not pass one another to even sit down. When you sat in the provided chairs, you could not see the river due to the railing. There was sand in the bathroom and if you need a firm mattress, this is not the place for you. I was expecting so much more for the price I paid.
This is a lovely place on the waterfront, with a small private beach. Comfortable bed, fully supplied kitchen, clean bathroom, outside balcony, easy check-in and check-out. Walkable to the main waterfront in Southport, and two minutes from the ferry. I only stayed one night but would have enjoyed more.

Off the beaten path but accessible to restaurants, etc. (although not within walking distance). Very clean facility and we had a pretty view of Cape Fear. Nice outside sitting area and pool (although too cold during our trip)

Selected the hotel because of price. Location was good too. Great overall experience. The pillows were AMAZING. The view was not as great as expected, but was nice. Would most definitely stay there again.

Nice spot tucked away in Southport....everything was great for a quick getaway. Only thing that I would add would be curtains for the rooms, still a lot of light at night through the blinds, but this is a very minor thing. Look forward to coming back!
The hotel was very clean and organized. I liked the quaintness of the property as it isn't part of a large hotel chain. Check-in and out were easy and the staff was very courteous.
This is a lovely little hotel, overlooking the Cape Fear River, nice well maintained rooms.
Unfortunately, the beds are cheap and so soft they are very uncomfortable. The sheets, also cheap and hard, crackled when you turned over! The noise from the in-room refrigerator and air conditioning made sleep very difficult. Otherwise it would have been a very nice stay as the property is very convenient and well priced.
Riverfront water view. Great location. Comfortable room. Friendly staff. Walking distance to Southport shoppes and restaurants. Hotel condos in great shape but the property could use a little TLC. Probably would be a factor for longer stays or warmer weather. Would stay again.
This is our second time staying here and we love it. Ladies at front check in our so friendly and accommodating.
Condos are so clean and have all the needed conveniences with the very nice kitchens. Beds and pillows are the best...like sleeping on a cloud :)
We were in a unit right next to a construction zone. It was off season and there were other rooms in other buildings that we could have been put in, that would have bee nIce and thoughtful. Instead we looked out on a heap of junk and had to deal with construction noise.
We truly enjoyed our stay at the River Hotel! It was clean, comfortable, and had a beautiful view. We loved having the kitchenette available. And the balcony was great.
