The breakfast is excellent, and parking is conveniently close by. The only issue was that the carpet in both the lobby and the room needed a deep clean. Otherwise, I would highly recommend this hotel!"

"The Hotel Kakola is a unique property. It's one of the most unusual hotels we have stayed in because up until just a few years ago it had been a prison! They certainly did a fabulous remodeling to make it into a lovely hotel. The gals at the reception were very friendly and helpful. Henna went above and beyond spending time with us to give us ideas for touring the area. We enjoyed both the outdoor terrace and the buffet breakfast. It's a bit eerie to see handcuffs on the backs of the chairs...

"I have a wonderful stay at this hotel. The location is perfect, right on the seafront, with beautiful views and easy access to the beach. The rooms are spacious, clean, and very comfortable, providing everything needed for a relaxing vacation. The breakfast was excellent, offering a wide variety of fresh and delicious options. The staff were friendly and attentive."

"So much fun to stay in what used to be a prison (although it took me a day to figure that out!). The decor is fascinating. Otherwise, great location, easy transportation options, excellent dining nearby. Hotel is about 40min from airport so not the closest option."

"6-7 hour short layover stay. Basically showered and slept. Reception friendly and helpful. If you need a place to stay for layover close or inside the airport, this will do. Very close to departure gate and not too far (5 mins walk) from the Metro if you want to explore the city by the Main Central station. Only negative was AC, could not figure out how to lower temperature. Would not go lower than 22c at night, and 23.5c in morning."

"Wow! What a beautiful property! Totally restored, early 20th Century (my guess) hotel. Close to the main railroad station, but well away from pedestrian and street traffic. Easy walking to the harbor and all of the major tourist attractions in Helsinki, as well as to the major shopping promenade. Plenty of restaurant options within a five to ten minute walk. What makes this property especially wonderful is the size of the rooms (largest we've ever had in Europe), and the perfect decor. We would...
